I have previously used 3 different models of PIAA lamps. All were good but eventually succumbed to the ravages of the road (rocks, vibration) and all cost about $200. That will likely be the fate of the Angel Eyes after a year or three, but this time the cost was only about $60. Compared to the PIAAs, the quality of illumination is about the same. The Angel Eyes are easier to aim and adjust. The PIAAs come with a better switch and a marginally better harness; plan on using a fair bit of heat-shrink and tape while mounting the Angel Eyes. The switch is not illuminated, so put it someplace where you can easily feel it in the dark while wearing thick gloves. The switch is also probably not especially waterproof; if it fails, aftermarket alternatives are readily available. The LED light ring is a nice feature; it provides conspicuity for daytime riding without putting any significant load on the charging system. It also makes my BMW look a little bit like a cop bike; I've noticed a big increase in respect from cage drivers since I mounted the Angel Eyes. Someday, when one of them catches a rock in the wrong place, I expect I'll be buying a second pair.

Time has changed. This light kit comes in a kit where you have o terminate the connector your self. unlike the older days where light kits come with wire bundle and you just plug it in. the advantage : you can use the exact length of cable. No more having to loop the extra wire or to splice the short cable/ wire. B/c a prepackage wire length for a SUV is going to be too long for a subcompact car. The disadvantage, You have to terminate and crimp the cable connector. The light it self is incredible. Without lens and only with FreeForm reflector the light has a very good light cutoff and light distributions. Amazing. Do not spend 3x as much to get PIAA . save your money and get this. This is also a very popular light for Bike rider as auxillary light. either fog or driving. I recomend fog light for daily use in town driving. FF50 Fog light could be use in town and would not blind the other driver and would light up wide swath of road in front of you. nake sure to read the alignment procedures. FF50 driving light would be best with high beam.
