Having mud flaps or mud guards on your car or truck keeps your fenders clean, and keeps mud from flying everywhere! It also prevents mud or other debris from flying onto other vehicles and pedestrians. Depending on the type of mud guards or mud flaps that you choose, they also have a hand to play in the aerodynamics of your vehicle as they can either improve airflow or lower drag.

"Overall these have been an excellent investment. Prior to installing them any time I would drive down a dirt road the truck would be coated in mud and I was having problems with rocks flying up from the tires and hitting the doors, these have solved that problem and will save the paint. The "mud guards" on the front and rear have effectively solved that problem.
The guards were fairly easy to install, the rear ones required removal of the tires to get a proper installation. Other than that the only requirement was drilling of a few holes.
The instructions were a little difficult to follow; the guards came with clear "stickers" intended for installation between the guards and the body of the vehicle. There were no instructions on where and how to place them. The instructions on installing the guards themselves were more than adequate.
I recommend these and quite frankly I feel that GM should have put them on when they rolled off the assembly floor!
