She would slip on the leather and I worried she would gouge it as well as get it very grimy. I read the reviews that said the fabric was slippery, making it hard for the dog to grip, but thought it would be easy enough to sew something more 'gripable' onto it or even iron on velcro strips. I haven't needed to do that, Gracie slipped at first (she slipped on the leather too)but has now found a way to make it work for her.
