The system attached to my cars existing roof rails very quickly and easily. Simple directions made the installation a breeze. Good finish and it looks great on the Toureg. The Thule cargo box I have has a very old fashioned attachment mechanism which required two people and many adjustments but that is another issue.

Before ordering, I spoke to a customer service person who assured me that the Thule Sidekick would fit onto the roof rack of a VW Touareg. This was not quite true. I had to replace the plastic threaded nuts with washers and wing nuts because the 4 hooks that attach the box to the roof rack are too short for this vehicles rack. Once the attachemnt problem was solved, everything worked fine and we took a fully loaded cargo box on a 1200 mile trip with no problem.
