2015 Nissan Gt R Leather Steering Wheel Covers

A few years ago our family bought a used ‘97 Toyota Landcruiser. It was amazing, low miles (considering its age) great performance, very little rust and it looked great. But the inside, well, it needed some help. One of the first things we did was simple, easy and inexpensive. We purchased a nice leather steering wheel to cover the not so nice existing steering wheel. It made a world of difference. Not only did it drastically improve the appearance of the steering wheel but it was so comfortable. Money well spent!

Benefits of Leather Steering Wheel Covers

So what are the benefits of leather steering wheel covers? Two benefits were just pointed out - looks and comfort. Let’s look at the obvious first, appearance and style - many people consider a leather steering wheel to cover an old, worn steering wheel. With dozens of color choices available, you’ll definitely find exactly what you like. A new cover will refresh the interior of your car or truck and leather adds a touch of luxury and class. Next, comfort - a steering wheel cover for trucks adds padding, and cushions your hands while driving. In addition, a new cover should reduce driver fatigue. Since a leather sew on steering wheel cover also provides extra grip, you don’t have to exert as much hand pressure as you grip the wheel. After so much use, an older wheel might start to share wear and lose a little of it’s textured grip and you’ll need to hold the steering wheel tighter to compensate. Last - a steering wheel cover protects the original wheel. Even if you park your vehicle in the garage overnight, it probably spends a lot of time outside baking in the hot sun. The sun’s UV rays can cause a lot of damage to the interior of your car. It can crack or deteriorate your dash and steering wheel. Pop on a cover to reduce further damage.

Installing Leather Steering Wheels

Installing your new leather steering wheel is something you can easily do yourself in about an hour. Most of the time, you’ll find a steering wheel cover that you stitch on. Simply pull out the heavy duty lacing cord and needle in the package, slip the cover over your steering wheel and start lacing. Leave about six inches of cord at the end so that you can tie it off when you finish. Start at the inside of the front panel and thread your needle through a hole leaving six inches of the cord to finish. Take your needle and cord over the cover to the back diagonally. Continue doing this for each hole, when you reach a spoke, make a dummy stitch around each hole on the front panel until you reach the end of the spoke. Once you make it all the way around, simply tie off your ends in a tight double knot, snip of the ends and gently tuck the knot inside the cover. The key to a sew on steering wheel cover is to make each stitch tight. If you pull it tight, you are doing it right. Now step back and enjoy your work. Your steering wheel and your hands will thank you for a job well done.

NRG Vintage Style & Wood Steering Wheels

Steering wheel 370z

I purchased the NRG steering wheel, (gold/white) and I thought that it was wood.... I was wrong it's just plastic painted white. It still looks fantastic and was easy to install and the horn works so I'm still satisfied. I would have given it 5 stars if the quality was just a little better! View more reviews...

Dash Designs Racing Grip Steering Wheel Cover

Comfort

Although the cover was a bit stiff to begin with, putting it on got easier the hotter it got. The feel of it is very comfortable and easy on my hands as well as not burning my hands on the wheel itself. The up close look to it is a bit sucky, but overall a good cover for the wheel.
