AutoAnything’s own Elly Brown met up with Michelle Schact of Firestone at the 2011 SEMA show. Their conversation covered quite a bit of suspension territory. Michelle highlighted the core of the suspension leviathan’s line including Work-Rite, Ride-Rite and Firestone’s premium R4Tech suspension systems. Michelle then went on to describe Firestone’s 2011 SEMA booth which featured their very own “No-Drill Challenge.” This fun and exciting game allowed SEMA guests to stop in at the Firestone booth and get their hands on some tools and Firestone suspension components to have a blast doing actual installs of the products. Firestone made it even more entertaining by timing guests. The average install time for SEMA goers was between two and two and a half minutes.
Elly then asked Michelle, “Why would you need a Ride-Rite kit?” to which Michelle gracefully responded, “You know if you have a light truck, that lighter vehicles handle poorly when their loaded. And, the heavier vehicles have a rough ride when they’re unloaded. The suspension system on a stock suspension is geared toward optimum load quality. And, for Ride-Rite customers, they experience a ride that is more like a car. They have a quality ride and handling whether it’s loaded or unloaded.” Michelle also touched on the fact that Firestone is the world’s number one air spring manufacturer and is the only air spring manufacture that still has plants in the United States.
