2002 Ford F 150 Suspension Systems

The suspension system on your car has two main jobs:
  1. Keeping your tires in good contact with the road as you travel
  2. Making sure your spine is still intact once you get there

Too much of one goal might allow the other goal to suffer a bit (depending on how you drive), so there is a balance to hit here. Depending on the vehicle's intended purpose, that balance might bias to one side more than another. Where we come in, is that we give you the tools to tweak that balance for your intended purpose, or maybe return it back to where it should be, if you're sitting on some worn out parts.

Diving deeper, your suspension system is also largely responsible for ensuring even tire wear, giving your steering a relatively neutral platform to do its thing, and allow for appropriate weight transfer under braking/acceleration/cornering to keep your car going where you point it.

"A pretty simple install. Took me longer than projected but I'm slower than most. Connecting the air line could have been more detailed and simplified. Just push it into the red part. It appears to work good without the camper on." —Lyle P from Federal Way, WA bought an Air Lift Air Bag Suspension Kit for a 2002 Ford F-150.

"Great shocks, installed easy, looks great and they roll down the road smooth. Skyjacker Nitro 8000 you will love them." —Nancy D from West Jordan, UT bought a Skyjacker Lift Kits for a 2002 Ford F-150.

"i Am not sure if the clearance is perfect, as each truck is different, but in my case (02 f150 SuperCab) the crossmembers for the bed support get in the way of the springs, and the leaf clamps prevent moving them forward or back to compensate for the crossmembers, so i just bottomed out and bent the crossmembers a bit...." —Chris F from Charlotte, NC bought a SuperSprings for a 2002 Ford F-150.

"I bought 4 shocks $178 total, for my 2002 F150. I have a 6" FabTech Lift and the shocks were simple to install. The ride on freeway is smooth and they take big hits off road with ease. Best all round shock with a great price." —Simon T from San Antonio, TX bought a Skyjacker Lift Kits for a 2002 Ford F-150.

"I've avoided working on my own vehicles like the plague for 30 years, but my son talked me into this project with him. I would have appreciated a little help in the form of a diagram or helpful hints. I wasted about 10-15 minutes trying to get the rubber bushing in until I tried a little silicon grease, then it went in with great ease. There were other small issues that you pros wouldn't have had any trouble with, but for me a little helpful guide would have been greatly appreciated!" —Charles W from Kennesaw, GA bought a Skyjacker Lift Kits for a 2002 Ford F-150.

"The shocks provide a very smooth highway ride and are faily stiff over bumps. My truck under load handles very well." —Robert C from Knoxville, TN bought a Skyjacker Lift Kits for a 2002 Ford F-150.

Firestone In-Cab Air Command Kit

Good Value

The kit is very complete and works very well with just rear air bags. Finding a good location for the compressor was a chore, ended up locating behind the right side headlight (2011 F150). View more reviews...

Air Lift WirelessOne Air Control System

Convenient System

The install was relatively easy. The only issue I had was deciding where to mount the compressor and how to connect to power. I did not like the idea of drilling a hole in my fuse box and jumping a fuse in order to make the connection. Other than that, everything was relatively easy to install. View more reviews...

The truth is that if we’re talking about common upgrades on our cars/trucks, I would imagine that the suspension is one of the most often misunderstood systems on our cars.
