Description:

Choosing a set of helper springs can be a lot like Goldilocks and the 3 bears. Some springs are just too stiff. Some springs are just too soft. And, Hellwig EZ Level Helper Springs are just right. Easier to install and costing much less than airbags, Hellwig medium helper springs deliver up to a mid-range 2000 lb level-load capacity (depending on model) that won't overload your ride or your wallet.

Made from Hellwig's supple heat-treated ASTM 5150 alloy spring steel, Hellwig EZ Level 1000 overload springs deliver maximum stability and ultimate control over medium- to large-sized loads. The progressive design delivers a factory smooth ride when unloaded, and the adjustable U-bolts let you adjust the ride to your specific load—including uneven side-to-side loads.

Like all Hellwig springs, your Hellwig EZ990 helper springs are coated with a protective hammer-tone powder coat finish. The kit includes spring pack, U-bolts, hardware and instructions. The patented design mounts under your factory U-bolt plates for easy installation with common hand tools. And, Hellwig is 100% American made and family owned for over 65 years, which means they cover your EZ Level Helper Springs with a Lifetime Warranty.

Hellwig EZ Level Helper Springs

As all Colorado owners know; these trucks do not come from the factory to haul 1,000 lbs of firewood. This easy to install kit is exactly what is needed to transform the vehicle into a true "working truck". Pair these springs up to some quality rear shocks and you will have yourself a hauling machine.

2012 Tacoma Model 981 Springs

My Tacoma needed a little extra support for trailering my boat. Without the helper springs when hitched to the trailer I had about a 2.5" drop from the tounge weight. Adding the Model 981 springs resulted in about 1.5 inch lift at the bumper, and redueced the drop when hitched to less than a 1". These also gave a firmer ride when no load, and less sway. VERY Pleased with the results. Installation took about 45 minutes.

Don't waste your money

Can't tell any change in vehicle height and the rear end now squats just as much as it did before. Not real impressed.

Hellwig 980 on 2016 Toyota Tacoma

I recently installed the Hellwig 980 on my 2016 Toyota Tacoma, as the rear suspension needed a little extra support from the added weight of a camper shell. The 980's completely solved my issue of bottoming out on large bumps and firmed up my ride. The rear end no longer feels saggy. I was surprised by how well the truck still rides. It rides like it did prior to the addition of a camper shell. I highly recommend the Hellwig 980!

Hellwig EZ Level Helper Springs

It says won't work with rear AC, I have rear AC on my 1998 Chevy Tahoe, you just need to carefully bend the AC lines out of the way a bit so they have clearance. This worked great, helped with the rear sway that you get from the old leaf springs.

Easy Install

The helper springs were easy to install and appear to be doing the job I expected. They do not appear to affect the ride without a load. While I have not loaded the truck to determine how they help, I plan to do so in the very near future

DID NOT FEEL LIKE I GOT 1/2 THE STATED WEIGHT BENEFIT

Although rated for 1000# I did not see hardly any significant additional weight capacity. On the plus side I also did not see any adverse ride comfort after the installation. I had these professionally installed along with a 100K service before a 1000 mile trip

Good but not what I expected..

Specification says that these are rated for 2000 lb capacity, and I did noticed some improvement in my ride and sag prevention, but not at all. I move heavy loads (1800 lbs) small distances but my Tacoma still sags. So I can say that these work great at 1000 lbs, but if you want to carry more than that, you better spend a little more buying airbags. Also you have to be very careful as the U bolts interfere and can damage you parking brake line, even following install instructions.

Great Springs

The springs themselves do everything they are supposed to. I like how they are adjustable. I am Very disappointed with AutoAnything due to shipping taking 18 days once I ordered the kit.

Easy install and work great!

Installed these on my Tacoma pre-runner and brought it back to factory height when preload is adjusted down fully. Hauled a 12 enclosed trailer 4 hours across the state and rode very well with minimal sag.

High Quality, Reliable Product

This is the third vehicle I have put Hellwig helper springs on and like the other two times I have been very satisfied with their performance. I suspect my next truck will have a set on it as well. I am especially satisfied with this last set of Hellwig helper springs because they have a bump up in the middle of the spring that allows the spring to be mounted over the factory u-bolt plates which saves a lot of time and energy. I Highly recommend this product.

They work as advertised, however I don't think you get the 1 ton they are advertising. Stupid simple to put on.

Made a huge difference

Installed these helpers with the hope that it would handle my 5th wheel trailer's 1100 lb tongue weight. Worked great, only experience about one in so sag and the truck handles bumpy roads much better. Great performance especially for the price.

Just what I wanted

The springs are exactly as others have described and are basically an extra spring that helps level out the bed of your truck when it has extra weight in it. I put them on a 2006 tundra. They are extremely easy to install I think I installed them in about an hour for both sides. They have a little bit of adjustment so that you can choose the weight at which the springs get engaged. For the price I don't think you can beat them.

Nice looking, easy to install

These springs were packaged nicely and came quickly from auto anything. Mine were painted nicely in a grey and black "hammered" type paint. They were pretty easy to install (impact gun highly recommended for old rusty u-bolts). They raised the rear end by about a half inch and it seems like the rear end sags about a half inch less with a load. The ride is noticeably better under load with no bouncing around or sway like before. Definitely worth $100.
