Frequently Asked Questions

How secure is the Pace Edwards JackRabbit Tonneau Cover?
The cover panels are made from polymer laminated heavy duty aluminum which is stout and sturdy. It would require a lot of force and dedication to puncture the surface. Out of sight, out of mind is key. Covering your gear severly limits someone's interest in what may or may not be in the truck bed. As long as your tailgate is locked, the cover is very secure.

Is the JackRabbit bed cover waterproof?
Ultimately no truck bed cover is totally waterproof, unless it's a fully overlapping style. Most retractable covers do an excellent job however keeping major water out, due to the fact that the rails run uninterrupted down the entire length of the bed.

Where is the JackRabbit bed cover made?
The JackRabbit tonneau covers are made in the USA.

Can I put cargo on top of the JackRabbit bed cover?
Yes, putting cargo on top of the JackRabbit tonneau is possible. Absolute maximum capacity is not published but it's designed to take the full weight of a snow storm. 100-200 lbs evenly distributed is likely no problem but not verified by the manufacturer.

How do I lock the JackRabbit if my truck doesn't have a tailgate lock?
The JackRabbit locks and comes with keys. If fully closed, it overlaps the truck bed, preventing the bed from opening. For even more protection Pop & Lock Tailgate Locks are available for most trucks as an aftermarket solution that can be retrofitted if your truck was not originally equipped with a tailgate lock. Sold separately, available at AutoAnything.

2020 Denali

I have had pickup trucks for the last 20 years and I also have had many types of covers, i.e., soft roll up covers, hard shell covers and this is the first time I ordered a rolling hardcover. This seems to be doing the job, I like it I had difficulty installing it at first and had to look at a video. Once I did that the installation went quick. Looks sleek and I like the low profile and especially that the cover locks and I will wait to see how waterproof the cover will be.

The latching slide rail failure

I bought the Pace Edwards JackRabbit Tonneau 6/20/19. After 5 months, the locking slide rail on the left side slides out as I close the cover. I have to fully open the cover & manually push the rail back in, close the tailgate & then close the cover. It is anannoying flaw. I need to know who to contact to get this problem corrected.

Second JackRabbit for me!

This is the second go around for me. The first JackRabbit I bought was in 2003 and was installed on 4 different trucks. The take up reel spring finally failed and I thought a completely new unit was in order. A few updates in the clamp down system but the design has remained primarily the same for over a decade. Easy install which took about and hour. I did look at other covers but decided that the proof was in the longevity of my experience with Pace-Edwards.

Just what I wanted

I am very happy with this product. Installation was horrible. I watched your video and several on Youtube which helped some. On one video it mentioned "unlocking" the cover so the two tabs would not stick out. This helped but is not in instructions. Finally I found that the rolled up cover was pushed too far to one side (not centered). After I manually centered the cover itself, I was able to insert the "cut out slots" in the two side rails into the main unit. Youtube videos saved me.

Installation hardware is mediocre quality

I bought this for a 2013 F-150 SC with a 6.5' bed. The rail mounting hardware does not fit well on this truck bed. The clamps have come loose on several occasions so I don't feel confident about the installation. I inspect it routinely to verify the clamps are still in place.

Wind blown cover

Install was easy with video. Overall quality I would say I am a little disappointed. When you drive down road. It shakes and wobbles at 70mph. I am also concerned about long term use with the vynal covering over top it sure doesn't seem to be able to handle years of outside storage. If I had the option to trade this one in for the all metal one I would Overall I am not all that impressed. This is my 2nd hard cover i have owned

It works and looks great.

Installation straight forward but a pain aligning the rails. Could have been a little wider to cover the bed rails stake pockets on my Ram dualley. Shimming also takes some time because the instructions are very basic and could be improved. Take your time and it will be great.

The salesman that sold me the cover was awesome and got me a great deal. All contents arrived as instructed and off to installation I went. Initially aligning the cover to the canister was the hardest part for me. Went on pretty smooth and was able to do it by myself, wifey was getting grumpy as assistant. At 75mph it handles pretty well and eliminates ANY back-drag from the air-draft. This is the second JackRabbit I have owned and I wouldn't have it any other way. MJP

Nice cover

Mounting the rails into the canister was a bit of a PIA by myself. Luckily the you tube videos helped WAY more than the printed instructions. I also ended up making shims for the rails so the cover wouldn't side to side. Without shims and the cover fully closed, I could make it open by shifting it side to side a few times.

Bed Cover

Between watching the video online and reading the instructions. The insulation went pretty well. The only problem I had was installing the side rails to the canister. Neither the instructions or the video mention that you need to pull the cover out a few inches before trying to feed the cover into the rail. Once I figured that out the rest of the insulation was pretty easy. The appearance of it looks really good. Just overpriced in my opinion.

Perfect Fit

The tonneau cover was shipped promptly and packaged well. The instructions were very easy to follow, and we quickly found a great YouTube video that showed how to do the one challenging step. The fit and finish is excellent. Called Pace Edwards technical support when we were having difficulties with one part and they were very responsive. The AuoAnything team is great to work with, I'll definitely recommend them!

Jackrabbit Tonneau cover

Took delivery of the cover and installed in an hour. Great instructions for a one person job. Getting rails to slide in was challenging but quickly figured it out with the help of a YouTube video.

Almost perfect, but...

So everything went pretty smooth with the exception of the very last screw on the panel that covers the roll. As I screwed in the first screw half way it went in by hand. The second one did not align to the hole and I had to force it through with a drill. Pretty upset about that as it's not flush and a little loose. It's undetectable by most but I see it. Overall, it's a great quality product at a great price. I was recommended this item by a friend and I will recommend this to others.

Pace Edwards JackRabbit Tonneau Cover

I installed the Pace Edwards Tonneau Cover in about an hour. I love that I can keep my work tools in the truck bed with out worry of theft. By far this is one of the best covers that I have owned. I would highly recommend this cover to anyone.

Some what tricky to install.

The installation required three of us to install the cover. The directions were not clear enough about the procedure for the installation. We replaced a Prior Jack Rabbit Cover that we had for 14 years and there has been some better design from the previous model re: The old cover would retract into the canister and was very difficult to get it free from the canister and the new one with the bevel front seems to address this issue. OUTSTANDING

I have the PE Jackrabbits on all of out pickups (2015 F-150, 1999 F250, and a 2017 F350 and they have all been outstanding! Easy install (have been getting easier each time! I haul big gooseneck horse trailers and they work with them and make the bed a real secure and weatherproof "trunk" when I ma not hauling horses! Best of the bunch of roll ups in my opinion!

Great tonneau cover

So far I love it. Installation not difficult, took me about 2 hours. Challenge for me was getting the cover into the second rail and getting the rail in place. A lot of cursing helped. The directions are a mixed bag. Really good but some details are lacking. For instance the fore and aft alignment is a little tricky. To seal at the tailgate the front of the the frame really only spans about half of the front lip on the bed. I may replace drain tube fittings with marine thru-hull fittings.

Perfect for a back patients needs

I had a hard cover on my last Two trucks, loved them. Now due to severe back injury's I can no longer use the heavy bed covers. I still needed the security of a cover and this was the answer.

Exactly what I was looking for!

As a project manager for a mechanical contractor, I don't need a full set of tools in my truck. I was looking for a system to keep the bed dry and secure, but usable if needed. I combined this cover with the latter rack system and it all fit perfectly. The rack is easily removed and everything meets my expectations. The canister does take up a little of the bed space, but that was expected. I will be putting this system on my next truck.
